The socks are usually covered with or made from leather and are worn inside of the shoe. One can use light boots such as ones worn by stage actors. Further stipulation is that the socks can be used to walk in them outdoors if a need arises without the possiblity of getting the feet dirty. Additional stipulations apply as well, such as they must be worn after ritual purity and the wipping time limted to 5 obligatory prayers when one is at home or in town or 3 days (15 prayers) when one is travelling. Renewal of the cycle is unlimited in travel or at home.

Similar drink can be made from raisens however strikly speaking here the author is specifically referring to liquid made with dates.
