[On Belief]

وَالسَّعِيدُ قَدْ يَشْقى، وَالشَّقِيُّ قَدْ يَسْعَدُ، وَالتَّغَيُّرُ يَكُونُ عَلَى السَّعَادَةِ وَالشَّقَاوَةِ دُونَ الإِسْعَادِ وَالإِشْقَاءِ، وَهُمَا مِنْ صِفَاتِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى، وَلاَ تَغَيُّرَ عَلَى اللَّهِ تَعَالَى وَلاَ عَلَى صِفَاتِهِ.

029- The happy one sometimes becomes miserable and the miserable one sometimes becomes happy; and the changing is in happiness (saʿāda) and misery (shaqāwa), not in making happy and making miserable, for these are both attributes of God and there is no alteration in God and His attributes.
